District of Vanderhoof - Message

September 2014

WOW. What a summer we have had. One of the hottest ones that I can remember, also one of the worst for fires in our area.

The OCP was passed just recently. A lot of hard work went into that process. Copies of the OCP will be available at the District Office.

The Housing Committee has been active in the last little. We have met twice with the folks from UNBC, who are will doing the housing study for us. This is about a six month process. They will be contacting various stakeholders within the community to get an insight as to the housing needs here in Vanderhoof. This is an exciting time for us.

Also, the Aquatic Centre is back in the news as the Pool Society has picked up speed and is actively fundraising. The Pool Society has set a goal to raise $500,000 towards the cost of the pool. Council has met with various provincial politicians asking for financial support and we will also be seeking support from our Federal Politicians.

Don’t forget that November 15, 2014 is the next civic election here in BC. So, if you are inclined to put your name forward, stop by the District Office and pick up a nomination package.
